Peacock on Dahlia 'Roxy'

Peacock on Dahlia 'Roxy'

There have been two Peacocks almost fighting over the two Dahlia plants in my pots by the rose arch. It's wonderful to sit and watch them. They chase the bees away, too.

The Colerette dahlias are great source of food for the wildlife....such a lovely pic...:>)

wow! Gorgeously marked butterfly.

There are still two of them, flitting backwards and forwards to this particular Dahlia - a great joy. :-))

lovely pic, and encouragement for more people to grow dahlias!

how far away were you? my aim is so good thta I'd have to be as close to it as it looks!

Lovely photograph...

Thanks. I was about a foot away, I suppose, maybe less. My camera has a 'macro' setting.

12 Aug, 2013

not sure what that is, I'll have to check mine, I usually just turn it on and click, except when I'm doing small videos. A foot away is about my range, if the butterly would keep still long enough!

I have seen Peacok Butterflys for the first time ever in my garden they are so beautiful ;0)

Fran, it's a small flower shape on the camera, which is called 'macro' and takes close-up pictures.

Pp, yes, they certainly are. :-D)

lovely combination...

thanks, Spritz, I'll check my manual

23 Aug, 2013

I never do - I'm sure my camera has loads of other functions! I must find time to read it if I can find it! LOL.

24 Aug, 2013

lol we all learn just enough to enable us to use the basic functions. I bought a camcorder (pre-digital, so big and clunky now) years ago and still have no idea of how to use it other than basic filming, no idea what all those other settings do. Keep meaning to try them, but ...

I have my digital camera manual on my PC - not sure if I scanned it in or downloaded an electronic copy. Need to edit it in either case; they tend to tiny print in those things. The prob is to match up the pictures with the text they belong to. One advantage of a PC copy in Word is that I can "search" for a word rather than have to read through the whole thing trying to find it

24 Aug, 2013

What a good idea! Mine is a thick 'book' with several languages. I certainly couldn't scan it in - it would take ages.

25 Aug, 2013

When I get those, I rip out the other languages and bin them; no use to me! there must be online manuals you could download, or copy and paste? if not complete manuals, maybe relevant "help" files?

ps, sorry to have divereted the chat away from the title of the picture!

25 Aug, 2013

No probs. I shall check when I have time - that's a good idea, Fran. :-)
