Bee Hotel

They just look solitary, but communication is on the level on which humans didn t grow up. But hotel is very nice, I would like to fly in :-)

We have a television program here called The Hotel Inspector where Alex Polizzi checks out hotels that aren't doing well and with a lot of hard work and down to earth sense, she puts them back on track....we really like how strict she is with the proprietors!

That s fantasy. In real life they just spy on common people.

I have one of these Janey it must be one that Alex Polizza rejected as being useless because we haven't had anything staying not even overnight :o(

Aw Amy, I'm going to keep a good check on it, to see if I get one before you, I've a feeling me and those bees have a lot to say to each other...lol!

Be patient, they may not use it now until next year, they need to suss it out first!! Mine took a year(to two) before they took up residence.

The bees dont start action until about may/june, and if they use the hotel you will see the end of the tube blocked up with a plug of mud. This then means that they have laid about six cells inside each tube, then you wait til the following year and they come out and start over again. I have many bees now and they are busy nesting until about July ish. then they go quiet once their nests are laid. It's so interesting, I did write a blog about Mason bees if you are interested :)

Thanks Carole.....we had a resident last night, a huge spider.....it even pulled a leaf over over the front of the bamboo, making sure it was hidden!!

Thanks for all this info Grandmage......I shall enjoy reading your blog later. We have had masonry bees nesting in the top of a stone wall, at the exit of a drain pipe over the summer and yes all is quiet now, at the time there were so many buzzing around!

Yes Janey they are quite frantic for a few weeks then it goes all quiet! Fascinating.

We had one peeping in a hole today Janey ,I was so excited I dashed in to get my camera when I came back it had gone :o(
