Thank-you terratoonie yea loads this year, the crows and jackdaws love them give it a week or two the tree will be one big crows party, and then later on we get the delight of picking up the thick leathery leaves , Roy.

How lovely! Did you all see Beechgrove garden at Ninewells hospital in Dundee last week? I was astonished to learn...after 27 years of living in the locality..that they have an arboretum! And not only that, it has a huge walnut tree in it! Fascinating!

you can have your pickings then?? i did have a walnut tree in a previous garden...not sure how i survived tho...i think i was 17 my first home...knew nothing about walnuts...only that they came from the shops....so i have eaten many a unripe walnut from that tree! not now i know better!!!and here to tell the tale....

Apparently these walnuts don't keep, you have to eat them straight away or pickle them, so I've been told.
