I bought 16 in four x 4 section trays last week. They are bedding cyclamen said to be hardy and very fragrant. I fell in love with the lovely leaves and as they have opened their petals seem to be whirling like a helicopter propellor. I had a look on the internet and they seem to be Cyclamen Silverado. They come in a selection of colours and I just hope they come again next year.

Jane the great thing about Goy is that we can all have our say and all read what is being said without anyone talking over the others. I love the conversations and the twists and turns they take as members join in.

Is this my cue to play my "poor OAP card" lol. I loathe seeing good plants which have been planted and cared for being discarded because they are running out of sell by date or the garden centre is having to take delivery of the next order before they have sold off the last lot. These were originally priced at £8.00 for a tray of four. I can understand that everybody from the seed suppliers up through the chain to the garden centre has to make enough money to stay in business but if I am lucky enough to spot a bargain I would be mad to turn it down. The only rule I apply to these purchases is that I can see a use for the plant. Do visit the Sale table next time you are in a garden centre. I went to a garden centre yesterday that I used to visit once a month on business. It closed and lay derelict for years. It was taken over 11 years ago by a neighbouring GC. 25 years ago I bought a Pink Pearl rhododendron for £14.99 which was supposed to grow to 20'. It is still only a metre high. I also bought a Buddleia alternifolia for only £2.99. These were the prices in those days and it was rare to find discounted plants because the garden centres grew their own. Yesterday I came across bundles of plant support circles 60cm diameter at 5 for £10. There were no legs but that will not be a problem as they are usually sold separately anyway. I have many plants which could benefit from my having these.
