I love this plant. We can grow it on Vancouver Island (and I bought one) but unfortunately it is a deer food.

That's a shame Klahanie. Deer are beautiful but I wouldn't like it if they ate my flowers!

Mine won't start to bloom for another month or so.

Mine started blooming this month.....I had an odd flower here and there during the summer.

I do get some flowers in summer; although, it looks so much better during winter...especially if we receive rain.
I can't give it enough water in summer.

It's a gem isn't it!

You have the perfect climate for Abutilon.

Delonix - Abutilon x hybridum didn't like it outdoors at all last winter, although it was happy enough dry in the shed with the Brugs and Iochroma.

I have two plants (made from cuttings). One in the shade and one in full sun. The one in the shade is four times the size of the one in full sun. BUT, the one in full sun has flowers throughout the summer.

Yes, the sun sure makes them flower better. My Abutilon is under the giant Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla).

The Abutilons I had in the S.F. Bay Area would grow huge (15 ft) 4.5m tall and bloom profusely all year.

What a beauty mine didn't grow this year :o(
