In the 1980s this used to be our favourite bit of beach in Corfu, but went back in 2009 to find it like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is at the Lefkimi end of Kavos.

We never went there,Shirl..maybe just as well..but our choice of resort wasn't good either..Sidari ? would never go there again..but luckily the hotel was nice..

Yes Sidari is a very touristy commercial place too, another one ruined!! There are some quite places left, and in 2009 San Stefanos was still one of them We loved it. Stayed at the Thomas Bay Hotel in centre of village. Rooms were fine there but don't have a very great outlook. The one they put us in first was overlooking the kitchen entrance & the smell rising up was awful!! We complained & got a room on other side of hotel looking over the hills, which was much better. St Spiridon was lovely too, but not a lot of accommodation there.
Certainly avoid Kavos!! Unless you are 18 - 20s, with more holiday money than sense, it would be HELL!!!!!
In the 80s I especially loved the fireflies dancing about in the olive groves on warm evenings, their little lights twinkling like a million stars among the trees - it was magical.
No chance of that now - the olive groves were uprooted to make way for bars & discos and glaring lights, no magic there now!!!! .... Just crazy boozing kids!! :((((

Don't you just hate it when they cater for only that age group ? We didn't see a lot of younger groups..not enough going on for them I guess..thank goodness,as it would have added to the disappointment..It was more like a one horse town..one tatty main street, with no nice little Tavernas to while away a pleasant evening.. I was waiting for a High Noon shootout,at anytime! Lol .what there was, either had massive TV screens with football or other sports,or slot machines etc..Parts of the beach stunk to high heaven, with a sewer running along side a smelly stream..thank goodness we had already had a nice cruise around the Aegean, the week before..but such a let down to finish the holiday :o(( We haven't been back to Greece since, although I know there are some beautiful places,so I shouldn't really compare..

No please don't think they are all like that. We loved Corfu and we have also been to Zakynthos, Paros, Andros, Peloponnese mainland & mainland further north opposite Corfu (Sivota we stayed in). Halkidiki was lovely
& Crete west & east, and Skiathos. We went to Rhodes as well & although we had a lovely little cottage almost on the beach, I wasn't keen on the rest of Rhodes. That's the only one I wouldn't bother going to again!
We haven't been anywhere abroad for years though - last place out of U.K. for us was France - loved that.
We played some golf there and we also played golf in Ireland on a couple of holidays, a place which I would love to go back to.

No Shirl,I wouldn't think that about other places in Greece,as the other places we docked, were lovely, even if they are more geared for the tourists...like us! :o)
Our favourite country is Italy, which we never tire of visiting..but this year ours have all been in England, and very enjoyable..owing to having good weather at them all..what a bonus! Lol.
