I grow many varieties of bananas which I grow. This one and my Mysore bananas are the sweetest of all! (and my favorites) YUM, YUM!!! LOL! :>)

What on earth do you do with them all? that is a lot of banana!!

I give them to my family, neighbors and friends. This is because my neighbor's give me lemons, limes, oranges, passion fruits, white sapotes, pomegranates and more.

I think I'll move to the US, my neighbours only give me strawberries !!

I give my neighbors bananas, tropical guavas (which I have a ton of right now), papayas, I'm trying to get rid of my sugar cane -- nobody seem to want them, though. My tall coffee tree in the front yard used to produce tons of coffee cherries and I would give them away, also.

How great wish my neighbours were so generous...

My next-door-neighbor has been giving me persimmons (the last couple of weeks). I've been baking persimmon cookies, which I love! :>)

Never heard of persimmon cookies. Do you chop the raw fruits and just add them into the dough?

Tommymoo:

No, it's more of a soft cookie. It taste more like a soft bread cookie. The persimmons are pureed.

Here's the recipe.

ha! I just planted that two weeks ago. I bought it at the Hayward Farmers Market for $10 in June. How could I pass that up? Anyway's I grew it for a short time in its pot.
Do you think it can fruit by next summer?

btw,When did your's flower? In spring? Or is that from fruit that started in the previous fall?

2 Sep, 2014

I think this one flowered in summer. If my bananas bloom in spring they will ripen in late summer....if they bloom in early summer they ripen in fall. I never have had a banana bloom in fall.

Ok thanks. I know some in norcal have said banana's dont ripen in time for winter. But,here its a sure thing banana plants are safe to mid December. Its the mid Dec- mid Jan,that's the REAL winter.

My grandmother (who lived in Hayward since 1963) for many years grew bananas. They were some of the best tasting bananas.
