My dragon fruit bloomed for the 7th time this year. These are a few of the many flowers. Unfortunately, I didn't get to pollinate the flowers. Photo taken Oct. 19, 2013

Great looking flowers.....

Terratoonie:
The flowers were closing up...as it was morning. They open up completely in the middle of the night (around mid-night). This is the time when they need to be pollinated, also.

No, the fruit and the flower buds have a look that resembles a dragon.
Dragon fruit has extremely high anti-oxidant properties. It's very common here.

It needs to generate roots first...then it'll start to grow.
It may be too late in the year for it get new growth...but, you never know.

It's such a fantastic plant. I've got a baby one at the moment but it needs something to climb. I've got to find the right spot for it.

Yes, it is. It can grow very large on a pergola or up a large tree.

They pollinate here in Hayward. I know some have said they cant get fruit from those plants in soucal. All I can think of is that (me and) my neighbor are close to the greenbelt. Bats could more easily find them. And- I've seen some big moth species at night also.

People here hand-pollinate them. They produce lots of fruit which ripens within a little more than a month. The two fruits on my dragon vine was pollinated by bees.
