Nice flower. We can't grow this plant outside until mid to late December or January here in San Diego.

Yes, in San Diego's subtropical climate it's too hot and dry in fall. This time of year we still can get high temps up to more than 90ºF (32ºF). On this date: Nov. 4th, 2010 the high temp hit 100ºF (38ºC) in downtown San Diego, CA.
The photos I've posted of Primroses are usually in January or February.
