Thanks Klahanie. The mothers do seem to 'cuddle' their joeys at times, just as most mothers do.

Sometimes you get lucky with shots, Neellan. Thank goodness my camera was close at hand.

They are so cute :o)

Yes they definitely are cute, but I've had to learn a few lessons about what to plant and what not to plant. I've had some lovely things eaten to the ground by these gorgeous creatures.

Sorry, Bloomer, I missed your comment. They are wonderful creatures to have around, but yes, they can do some damage at times.
It all seems to depend on the length and severity of our dry seasons and the consequences of extreme weather events. For example, I had an enormous Hibiscus shrub in the front garden bed, and it looked fabulous there for ten years. Then after the cyclone event of 2011, the wallabies obviously had trouble finding food, so they discovered the Hibiscus and literally shredded it to the ground. It was two metres in height, and it was reduced to less than a metre. They've been snacking on it ever since, and it's still less than a metre in height.

so would I. Bernieh, we have a programme on the telly here called 'coast' and they have been doing a tour of the coast of Oz....it is absolutely amazing! I've never seen much of Australia on the telly before except in dramas, so it's great to see a bit more of your amazing continent. Last night we were treated to Darwin and the very top of the country. Fascinating....rather too many crocs for my liking though! ;))

I'm afraid the dramas you've probably seen have not highlighted the diversity of landscapes and wildlife that we have here. It's an amazing place and I had the good fortune to travel around quite a bit of it many, many years ago with my children. Best ever experience.
You're right about the crocs in the top end. Those of us who live here of course know the dangers and don't put ourselves in dangerous situations where these creatures might see us as food. I'm afraid most of the incidents are caused by intoxicated people doing silly things or tourists not really believing the information.

You are so right Bernie....we never see much of Australia on the telly here, and that is why this new series has been so fascinating! You do live with some terrifyingly dangerous creatures....insects, snakes etc. that we don't even have to think about in the UK really. But it is an incredible continent and I have even started to think about visiting, which I have never wanted to do before. :))
