Ours were imports! It's obvious in the extreme cold that these little fellows are not acclimated. We had three only ..no flocks (which is unusual) and now it's down to two as the Shrike took one of them.

We get flocks of starlings fighting over food. They like fat blocks placed flat and bread, shreds of chicken skin are gone in a trice. Your immigrant starlings seem to get predated. The tables are for them, so the smaller birds can use the seed feeders in peace. They are a bit like miniature vultures, fighting over every scrap!

I think the first starlings were released in a park in upstate NY back in the 1880's.... they truly are survivors!

Ah now we do have these in our garden they arrive in gangs and take over the feeding stations !
