Yes it sort of changes whichever way you look at it and depending on the weather sometimes it's reddish and then purplish a lovely little plant ....

Thankyou :-)
They are great plants aren't they Amy, I have a few varieties now and all have slightly different leaf colouring at this time of year but think this is the nicest at the moment.

Thanks Pam :-), this ones orange with yellow centre I'm getting a few of these now they do so well in our little wood I found 'Fire Dragon' last year one I've wanted for a while.
How are you? haven't seen you on here for a while, I was just thinking the other day I must message you I found some Asphodeline Alba seeds from last year in the fridge, sure I was saving them for you? I think.

I do like all the woodland plants, we have a miniature woodland garden (obviously!!) which is doing alright, but the soil is quite heavy, and some of the plants have not liked all the rain, unfortunately....

Me too I love the epimediums and have several now, it gets quite dry in there in the summer though, I was amazed how well hostas do thought it'd be way to dry for them in summer but they do great, I have 3 new ones coming this week from a friend,we're doing quite a large swap its so muddy here and I'm rinsing everything so it doesn't weigh to much I look like I've been doing a bit of mud wrestling lol.

Lovely Kathy, do you buy your Epimedium online or from nurseries, I've never had any. Remember when you put me onto Cotswold Garden Flowers for the Sambucus, I got quite a few, establishing nicely now :-)

Lol good job Dd I even had it on my face by the time I'd finished.
I have 5 epimedium now Dawn I bought 3 from my favourite local nursery which has unfortunately closed now, the owners decided to retire and as the nursery was attached to their home they closed it, still open their garden for charity days though, the other 2 I bought from Harrogate Spring show last year I would like more, after admiring a corydalis on Andrewr's pictures he gave me a link to Pottertons Nursery and I see they have some nice epimedium to so may give them a try this autumn.
Oooo don't forget to post pictures of those Sambucus the gold one you sent me a cutting from's doing good :-)

Thanks Kathy, I'll have a look at Pottertons too. Yes, I'll post pics of the sambucus, buds on them at the mo. so pleased you advised me to go for them as alternatives to acers. Glad the golden one is doing well. Must look for your black lace, set it out last year. :)
