Would have thought that you'd have had better weather in Kent than in Shropshire, Gee, so your plants would be further advanced. But this is in a [relatively] sheltered spot, don't know if that makes any difference.
I had some pics up as "shrub 1", trying to find htem so I can rename them - got so many shrubs to number I'd better to a map so I know which one is which!
I do like this - even if I don't get any fruit from it! a flowering fruit tree all my own, in my own garden ... :-D

This is Chaenomeles japonica, very nice early blooming shrub.

thanks for the "proper" name, Kat, I'll add taht to my files! it is blooming early, isn't it? I'll have to look up when to start checking for fruit - but maybe hte birds will let me know!!
