The Actinidia kolomikta is just coming into leaf and the cats are going crazy for it.

How intriguing! Dawn, when you bought this climber, did you know it was attractive to felines? I had no idea....I wonder if you might be able to distract it with some catmint close by.....?

I've never seen a cat near mine Dawn , ' Copper ' managed to squeeze himself through a tiny opening in the window today and had been sleeping on our bed it's pouring with rain outside so the bedding was wet , he is so crafty , how can we make him understand he doesn't live here without being cruel ?

Hi Teds. That is my Roxy, she was nibbling a leaf lol.
Hi Karen. The climber was a gift from Amy, a couple of years ago. Both my cats like it, they rub around the stems but Rox was chewing it today. They dont seem to damage it but I think it was Andrew on here saying he had to get rid of his due to cats.
Happy Birthday Amy! Oh Amy, naughty Copper, more washing now then tut. Can you have your window half shut, like locked but not quite closed? Ours do that. You know cats - unruly lol.

I didn't know that either, not something I've ever grown, best not either the cats we have in our garden, it's the one with the lovely pink and cream leaves isn't it?

I cannot believe you dont have this climber Kathy. It is beautiful and yes it is the one with the pink and cream flowers. Amy sent me a cutting, grew quick but its not invasive and when those leaves turn, well it really is beautiful. I dont know why the cats like it, weird. Amy says she has never had cats interested in it in her garden. I will look how Amy does cuttings, if you would like one ;-)

Dawn - I didn't get rid of mine, but cats killed the first young plant by rubbing against it and breaking it off at soil level. The replacement has a 'shield' of semi-rigid wire mesh around the base to prevent a repeat.

No I don't Dawn I do remember Amys though, lovely, if you do manage to get any growing from cuttings I'd love one please, especially as Andrews just told me a way to protect it ;-)

Sorry Andrew, I just vaguely remembered about it. Your trick sounds good. Kathy, I'll give it a go, I'll try in July.
Amy: If you are around, do you remember how you took the cutting?

I was looking for a plant in the photo (I can be a bit dim at times lol) , took me a while to spot the lovely puss cat up the wall he/she certainly looks to be enjoying the smell of the plant.
