Great capture Alan!

Thanks Sheila, just happened to have the camera nearby. I missed a great photo recently, two young foxes came into the garden and started stalking the heron in the rockery. By the time I had got my camera, they had both disappeared back into the farmers field..... :~((

How lovely to have seen the foxes stalking! But we just can't capture everything, especially if it's moving fast . . . we had a blackbird ferociously chasing a black squirrel this morning . . . no way I could have captured that :)

We have grey squirrels here, which nest in the pine trees, they are a pest. Well you learn something EVERY day of your life ..... I never new there was such a thing as a black squirrel in the UK. I have just looked at some fabulous black squirrel photos on the internet.

Wow, love this pic, getting them all in the same place at the same time, you must have your camera in your pocket at all time to capture something like this!

There aren't very many black squirrels in the UK Alan, but there are 'pockets' where they thrive, and North Hertfordshire is one of them. It's quite funny watching a grey chase a black one, and then the black squirrel turns and chases the grey . . . but they never actually make contact!

Cosmos Jane, I couldn't believe my luck either, they were only there for seconds, then gone.... Never to be seen again.

Sheila, I spent many a happy year playing hockey in Hertfordshire (for St Albans). What a lovely part of the country. I wasn't really into gardening or wildlife at that point in my life, so wouldn't have noticed any black squirrels. ... I was more into drinking beer in the many nice pubs in Fishpool Street.
