What's the weather forecast for you Bathgate? It looks like we are going to have reasonably good gardening weather Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Monday, but rain on Easter Day. Not to worry though, it will save getting the watering can/hose out! ;D

Hi Tracey! We just had snow flurries last night and temps are well below normal - hi 30s. It is suppose to warm up progressively and should be a nice weekend. I just planted onion seeds before the snow flurries. Do you think they'll be OK or should I reseed? They have not sprouted yet.

Bathgate, I've never grown onions! Only the salad spring onions! I'd say if the ground is frozen it doesn't look good for the onion seeds... We planted potatoes last year at Easter, as it's the traditional time here, but conditions weren't exactly good at the time - we had a very poor year... :o( Perhaps you could ask on the Gardening Questions?

Happy Easter to you too,Petaltracey..love your Easter decoration too..I have started using jugs for display,since I ran out of Vases recently..I think I prefer flowers in them now,and some are just stuck in a cupboard anyway :o)

Thanks very much Bloomer - I like using jugs to display spring flowers, especially tulips. I also like to use milk bottles for some single flowers like Gerbera. I've got some bottles with a picture drawn in the glass of an oast house and a cow! Very Kentish! They came from Bourne & Hillier, a local Dairy in Rochester. We lived close by in Higham and were customers until we moved to Buckinghamshire... Imagine my surprise when one day three of these bottles were delivered to our door (with milk in of course)! Due to being a bit homesick I decided to keep them to use as vases(!) I was so glad that I did as the dairy closed down, and I daresay all the Kentish bottles ended up in various other dairies...:o(

just read what you said about how you kept those bottles for vases and how you were so pleased you did as the dairy closed down, i thought how nice and timely that was for you :-)

Thanks Jane! I'm using one of the bottles now, I'm trying to root a yellow rose that has sprouted leaves. It's a rose that I had over from an order several weeks ago now... Hope I'm lucky enough for it to sprout roots - no sign as of yet!

that will be good if it does, ive tried with one of my rose plants to do the same but instead of putting into water ive tried putting the cutting straight into potting compost, lol
well i get a feeling yours will work ;-)

Thanks Jane... :o) It's one that I use from Columbia called Bikini - it's got a beautiful sized flower and is a gorgeous yellow AND perfumed... which isn't usual with cut Roses...! ;o)
