or make some noise yourself - they might then get the hint.

soft music? classical, soothing, to suit the mood and hopefully help to drown out the noise? or nature sounds? waterfalls are a great noise-blocker!

What type of tree is the one on the left, pyramid shape?

It is Himalayan golden cedar. A beautiful tree, it grows very fast, smells nice and will be really a dominant tree in the garden.

I usually avoid any plant lablelled "vigorous" - it mgiht grow fast, but then it has to be trimmed back so much and so often to stop it taking over the space - didn't want any thugs in my garden mugging the other plants! but if you've room for it, it'll look lovely

Hi Fran, I bought several vigorously ):-)) growing trees to my garden, as I am surrounded by houses and their inhabitants used to watch, what is going on in my garden. So I made a natural barrier for them, which they, of course do not like. I do.

that's a good reason for getting vigorous plants! so many people get that type of vigoous hedge but don't bother to keep it inc heck, or didn't realise how much it would need and can't keep up, so it goes wild - most neighbour disputes are about hedges!
