Philadelphus purpurascens - 2014

I've been after this shrub since seeing it at Inverewe a few years ago. I finally managed to track one down (and make a space for it) about 18 months ago. As it's planted in heavy clay, it has taken a bit of time to settle in, but is now flowering for the first time. It will make a large shrub, at least six feet tall, but the flowers always have these purple calyces.

That is just sublime! I've added this to my favourites just so I don't forget it ;)

Scottish - have you ever been to Inverewe? Not easy to get to, but definitely worth it!

Never been Andrew, i really should holiday at home :) Was recently given some wood anemone, the original plant came from Inverewe around 25 years ago.
Must ask at Binnys if he can get this in for me.

Fran - yes, philadelphus is mock orange.
I can see the demand for this one is going to increase now. Everyone is Googling it and scouring Plant Finder :-)
