Hi it's called Dierama pulcherrimum, or angels rod, It grows to about 5 - 6 feet tall so it needs space. If you have the room it's a must.

I have the room but do I have the type of soil and light it needs? I have very slow draining soil in a very wet part of the country, not many sunny spots and only short borders on the south side of the garden. It is soil for about 6 inches and then thick clay, it does drain but slowly and remains moist for most of the time. What does it grow from, seed, corm, cutting etc?

Hi Lynne, it likes full sun, prefers a lighter soil but moisture retentive. you could try growing it in a large tub. It grows from seed but takes two or three years to come to flower, you would be better off getting one from a nursery in the green. Hope this has helped, any more questions give us a call I will try to help.
