Are you sure its gladiolus Barhgate?Looks more like Penstemon 'Husker Red', and a much better example than mine!!!very nice :-)

as the name you have mentioned the flowers are a deep red and held more loosely on the stem

Thanks for your correction Simbad. You are correct. These are in the Garden at Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Apparently they have been mis-labelled. That happens occasionally, lol.
