A very rare climber in the Loasaceae family.
A big thank you to Charlie Pridham for this!

That's a lovely flower, Meanie. As Simbad says, an unusual twisted stalk.

Wow! That's very unusual. I've never heard of this plant before...you're a lucky man to obtain such a rare plant.

I saw it at OBG last summer and someone that I know from another forum offered me a pot of it in the spring when I posted the photo.
I we're really lucky it will set seed, although I'm told it is rare in northern Europe.

Meanie:
Is it a hardy plant?
19 Aug, 2014
I doubt it................

I read it's from South America; however, it wasn't very specific to what area. I would guess it would grow outside here in San Diego. Many plants native to Central America and South America grow well here outside.

Trying to find out much about it is difficult! It's not even listed on the Chileflora site.
Being one of the Loasaceae family it will have a modicum of hardiness, but I doubt that it will have UK levels of hardiness.

Maybe you can start a new website with your personal, cultural experiences with this plant.

Might need a few more years experience with it yet..............

Yes, you may need a few more years experience...start documenting now. :>)

That is beautiful.......
Such a lovely flower but strangely the first thing I spotted was the stalk that joins it lol, the way it twists is very unusual :-)
