thanks Waddy/ It's a bit hit-and-miss, whatever pot I had handy and would more-or-less fit on the bricks with the lip of the pond taking up a bit of space. But eventually I'll get the beds at the sides and back sorted, and plant something in there that'll do the same job

Why so many grasses around the pond, Fran?

I'm hoping that they'll make a bit of a shield from sun and wind - if they grow enough, I'll plant them at the back and one side as a permanent screen.
