Thank you Homebird you are right the single varieties are easier when I grow standards I look for a plug plant with a single stem that looks like it wants to grow upright I think it gives you an advantage from the start.
I am going to do a blog later this year about growing a standard and have already taken a photo of a plug plant which I purchased a couple of weeks ago from Aldi it's not a single but it is a small double the variety is Dollar princess.
