lovely. how big was the original tree? was it much trouble to place the segment?

Thanks Karen~ :-) Hi there, Fran. It was actually two trees growing tightly together. I asked the woodsman, who cut it down, not to split that large piece of log. The manitoba maple is not a hardwood and therefore the logs which are green and still full of sap are not that heavy . I managed to place it and brace it with wedge cuts.

Maple is such a beautiful pale wood. It has gone out of fashion here now, but I still love it, and have it in my kitchen....imitation of course, not the real thing!

most of my bedroom furniture was maple veneer; lovely colour, not too dark
