I really like these autumn crocuses it makes you think of spring ! I'm picking Saffron each morning now ..

Amy I have a number of saffron and while they increase in quantity they never flower so this summer they have been baked in my computer room window together with Sternbergia Lutea also never flowers, repoted them about a month ago ,Crocus are yet to show while just today a bud is emerging on the Sternbergia. Watch this space lol.
I think you already know I am not able to plant crocus in the ground squirrel just destroys them.

Brian I think conditions must be the important thing with the crocus I gave my son some of my Crocus Sativus he planted them in pots as he only has a small back garden ( he has an allotment ) his bulbs haven't flowered after 3 years and they are the same bulbs as mine ...
We came upon some crocus's in France which puzzled me we had stopped in a lay-by I could see purple flowers in the grass fields got out to have a look at what they were and they were crocus's growing in the grass not only in that field but in all the surrounding fields and then again when we stopped in some mountains they were growing wild in the woods ,I didn't know they grew wild like that !

Amy the Autumn Crocus Speciosus grow wild in many parts of Europe it was probably that one.
It is easy to grow and obtain, would probably do well with you.
