This proved very popular with the visitors, so we asked the owner who said it was involucrata bethellii...
On returning home looked it up in the Plant Finder only to find we have the National Collection on our doorstep!! and they open for the NGS!!

I'm unsure as to the hardiness DD as this is the first year that I've grown it. According to my RHS "bible" it is supposedly one of the hardier ones though..............

I have the Salvia Involucrata mine has come through several winters I couldn't say if mine is bethellii ,it looks very similar I must put a photo on , I make extra plants by taking side shoots off at this time of the year ...

Good idea Meanie! the weather has changed from hot and sunny to cold and very wet, it will be a big shock to some of our plants.
