The old bay area standard. No matter how common, they are still admired.
With "mama cat".

They can get sizable. They do also fit in style from formal to Hawaiian gardens. Versatile.

I know I used to have a beautiful colored one in Fremont. It had really bright colors.
The large one in my front yard is in full bloom right now, also. Of course, like you said they are super common, grown by the millions here outside. They are very widely grown in medians. My last visit up to Hayward I saw they are commonly grown in the medians, also. I saw a lot planted in the medians on Mission blvd. and Foothill blvd.

Thanks all!
Delonix,I got a tip on Dragon tree's planted near the Union City city hall...Young,but at 8 years they must be nice sized.
One last on BOP..mine is blooming heavier very early. Has to be this "z11" winter lows and rains. Supposedly it ends by the new year. They could also be wrong.

I know dragon trees grow up in the SF Bay Area. Some took a big hit in the 1990 freeze, though. They take so long to become a somewhat large tree, though. Some on Coronado Island are over 100 years old and only 30' (10m) tall. I know the very large trees on the Canary Islands must be a 500 to 1,000 years old or more.
I hope the weather stays a constant Z11 for you, for the rest of winter.

I used to grow this in my conservatory Stan. It flowered every winter, and got too big within about three years. It had to be dispatched I'm afraid. But then I saw some mature examples in Tenerife and was glad I'd given up on it, as it would have taken up the whole room!
