Fascinating how these things form in the ground.

It looks like these crystals were not harvested but excavated! If only they had been properly removed from the schist!

Fran/Lori ..
I've requested that the GoY Management lads give me an extra GoYpedia category with a title something like Stones and Rocks ... because it would be helpful and interesting to have these all in one place ! :o)
I already have two GoYpedia categories called Cobbles and Pebbles ... but those aren't suitable for such as minerals and rocks we find while gardening.

LOL... Fran, I'm using it for a paperweight at present!
Mica is used in agricultural ways... adds bulk and air to heavy soil as it has so many surfaces (once it's expanded) to hold air and water (vermiculite). There are many folk who value crystalline rocks for esoteric purposes. Will try to find a pic of a geode which I found in my last garden...they are very interesting. spherical rocks which when sawed in half are hollow in the centre with crystals forming the "skin" of the geode. I have a few fossils in limestone as well.
