There might be thousands on the lake and they stay all year round. There is a fish factory on the south side of the lake and they feed them. It is a spectacular sight....tourist attraction.... although there are not very many tourists in this part of Mexico. Mainly local people from close by big city.

Yes - it must be spectacular :) Many many years ago I remember swimming in a natural seawater pool (in the Caribbean) watching a single pelican diving into the shoal of fish quite close to me . . . he couldn't miss catching one really!
