Lovely photo Paul. We have a pair visiting the garden and they have been looking at our nestbox too.

Thanks Linda. I have two nesting boxes up but haven't noticed any activity around them!

I have found that it takes a couple of years before the birds nest in the boxes, but that's only my own observation. You might well be lucky if there is a shortage of boxes around Paul.

I had a box up at the old house for 9 years but no luck.I had it in two different places but they didn't seem to like it .

The box should be situated at a height where the cats can't get at it and in partial shade as the babies will be too hot.

I always place them west facing so they get the sun later on in the day...not at it's hottest.
