Ooh, now see...THAT is spring! :)) definitely back to winter here today. It has been freezing cold all day. But I think we are in for sunshine tomorrow which will be grand, as nothing is growing bar a few tentative spring bulbs. My seedlings need some sunshine! Love this, thanks for putting it on, it's right cheered me up!

A really lovely spring garden, it goes from very warm to chilly here, cannot keep up with it, hoping for a spot of rain, dare I mention the r word!!

23 Mar, 2015

Yes Dd, you should mention the 'R' word because I think that is what is needed to really bring the gardens to life, sunshine too of course!
The nights are still so cold.

Yes, we awoke to a thick white frost again today. But theres heat in the sun and it's all gone now. I have lost quite a lot of plants this winter. I found three dead lavander yesterday. My lovely Erysimum are all gone all of them, with the exception of the one Brian sent me, which for some reason looks fine. I am going to need some new plants in the patio border. Both the hardy Fuchsias in there look completely dead, but I'll leave them for a bit as they always sprout late.

It is sad when you discover that you have lost precious plants.

However, it will be enjoyable replacing them in the coming weeks!

I think that this winter has been deceptively harsh somehow.

Oh dear Karen what a pity, to lose so many plants, you will get to know what will survive in your garden and what will not, I expect it is because you are so open at the moment, nothing to stop the biting winds.......
It is still coldish here considering it is the soft south, will not be uncovering the tree ferns until May!!

I took the olive out of the greenhouse today...but I've put right up at the patio door in the corner.

sorry to hear you have lost a lot of plants,Karen..so disheartening..I keep thinking that some of my Fuchsias are dead, but I scratched the bark on a few,and they are still green.,but as you say, some are late anyway..surprisingly,'Annabel' which I bought last summer, and potted up to keep inside this winter, doesn't look good..and the label said hardy ..Hywel didn't think it was,so I know who to believe, and it ain't the label !

Yeah...I'm giving up on 'Hardy' Fuchsias. Kath told me as well and I'm glad I kept a few in the greenhouse.
