Mangos Ataulfo are the best mangos ever Amy. They just melt in your mouth. They are grown here in Mexico .We can get them in Canada as well but not at this price. 24 pesos/kilo is about $2 Canadian . Back home we would pay $3-4 each.

Walmart is also in Mexico? huh.
I was watching about Hawaii and people there pay through the nose at mom and pop stores. 8$ for a box of cereal!

Yes there are several Walmarts in Guadalajara. I was surprised that they put two here Lakeside. One is called Bodega and it is low end store.... the one in our village is a "regular" Walmart and then there are few "Superamas" which is the high end store in Guad. There is also a store here that caters to foreigners and is very expensive (but that is not Walmart). The good thing for Americans is that the dollar is so strong . It is not so for us Canacs.

Those look wonderful! The ones that get shipped here taste like rubber. It's always best to get them off the tree.
I know of several mango trees close to where I work...I have a feeling it's going to be a very good mango season here in San Diego. I might have to snip a few. lol! :>)

Mmmmm.... next to maple syrup my favourite flavour in all the world! same here, Delonix..by the time they get to our stores here in Ontario they taste like cardboard. It takes a very discerning eye and nose to find the best ones and the price is steep...but so worth it!

The bad imported taste is because they are given a fast boil to kill off pests. Add,picked a bit too soon also.
But,I know if you see the large ones that say grown in Sinaloa? delicious. Best large Mangoes I ever had.
A very small local market would sell them every early summer. I must have spent a small fortune not because they were expensive, but because I would buy all the time.
Then,the market closed up.
Only the Autalfo Mangoes have I found since then come close.

Sinaloa is very agricultural state. Sort of like Southern California. Sorry the market closed down Stan.

Yes, Stan, many of the mangoes imported are cooked! That's why they taste HORRIBLE!!! The mangoes which are irradiated taste better; however, I don't like the fact that they're irradiated.
This is the reason why I wait for the locally grown mangoes or the ones from the Coachella Valley. They don't have to be treated for bugs.
