I Agree with Karen. It's a sedum (I'm guessing Autumn Joy, I have several). Clear out the debris from last season's growth - they die back to the ground in winter, give it a good drink and you'll have an attractive, hassle free plant. Pink flowers in late summer - attracts butterflies.

thanks Bathgate. I tend to leave plants alone if I don't know what they are - they might not be weeds, after all! I'll certainly check out the variety you name, thank you
ps just Googled it, and those flowers do look very familiar! wondered waht they were at the time

You are very welcome. Enjoy it. It's a very rewarding plant to have. When it gets bigger, you can divide it and have two, or three!

I think I've got a couiple already; there are some tiny plants that look very similar, but I'll wait to see what develops. lol half the fun of htis garden is identifying what's already there

What else?
See who else is growing Sedum rupestre.
See who else has plants in genus Sedum.
This photo is of "Sedum - Stone Orpine?" in Franl155's garden
