This is the smallest bunch and sized bananas I've ever grown! Typically, there's more hands and the size of the bananas are larger. With this being said they're still very sweet...as the bunch was just cut today. Photo taken July 14, 2015.

Yes, with heat and lots of water they grow like crazy...putting out a leaf every 5 to 7 days throughout spring, summer and fall.

Oh it must be wonderful to be able to grow your own bananas, I expect they taste completely different to the ones we buy!!

Yes, I've grown bananas for years...along with papayas and coffee. I have 5 varieties of bananas and my favorites are: Mysore, Ice Cream, and Golden Fingers. My bananas taste a lot better than store bought ones because I let them ripen as much as possible on the plants.

Sandra:
Apples don't grow well at all in San Diego. In Julian in the mountains in San Diego County is where apples are grown. This is where you can get the famous Julian Apple Pies. Yum!

Mmmm that looks good.
Mine Andy was started last June from a pup I got at the Hayward farmers market. Its now..10' and with a few trunks.
Shooting for next year for it to flower.
I planted it where water runs off the roof..it also seems to stay wet on less water in summer..but getting hot, house reflected, sun.
