Daylily 'Awesome Blossom' x 'Jelly Maker'

I think this one has the best edge in this lot so far, 4.5inch flowers.

Thankyou both :-)
Looking back at my records this is one that struggled to open last year, so glad I gave it a chance :-)

I think the colour is more vibrant on this one.

In my humble opinion, Simbad, it's not just about colour (sometimes the photo is not the actual tone) but growth and form etc.
I bought Always Afternoon, because I liked the photo, but the pale violet turns out to be a muddy pink, disappointing.

You are right of course Siris , I set these seeds before reading on the BHHS that Awesome Blossom is better known as Awful Blossom by members because the colour isnt very nice in the UK, luckily most of the seedlings from this cross are quite nice.
Bud count is next thing on my list next year with the keepers then they'll be dwindled down a bit more, must check with Wylie whether bud count is better in the second year as I have a couple of nice ones that only have 4-5 buds, not worth keeping otherwise.
Shame about your Always Afternoon, its a lovely colour here , sorry ;-), a lot can depend on soil conditions too with the colour Luxury Lace is pale pink at the bottom of the garden salmon pink at the top strange.Always buy from sellers that specify their plants are from divisions too some are micropropogated and the colour isnt so good on those.

Bud count should improve next year. In the second year, I am more concerned if the flower still looks the same or better as it did last year. That is why I will be digging up several in the fall.
Awesome Blossom is from the Salters who live in Florida, and winter temperatures can also affect flowers.

Thanks Wylie, I have a couple that don't look as good as last year so maybe they should go?

They can join my 2nd year under-performers on the compost heap. ;]

Yes think they can!! I've also looking at a couple of those cheap seedlings I bought a few years ago that aren't very good colours, and one I bought which isn't what it should be and after 3 years the buds have never opened properly, no room for space wasters lol.
