I planted it last spring . It was just 5' stick with no branches and leaves. Has to be protected from deer. They've damaged it rather badly. Hopefully it will grow fast to size they will not reach. But I am pleased that it flowers this year. I like the leaf texture too.
The flowers and bark of the Albizia julibrissin are among the most valued of Chinese botanicals for relieving anxiety, stress and depression Therefore is called a tree of happiness.

I am happy it flowers at all. I was not sure if it will survive here. They had mild winter (we were in Mexico) so we will see next winter. But it seems to be well established now. Thanks for your visit Delonix1.

Albizia julibrissin is a very hardy tree. It even tolerates the wet and cold very well.
I saw very large trees in flower in the San Francisco Bay Area. I think they grow and flower better up there, especially in San Jose in the Santa Clara Valley. They get a lot of heat up there in summer.

Good to know. We had unusually hot summer too....well, for Vancouver Island.

I must plant my seed grown one out soon.

How big is it now Meanie?

Meanie, it should grow well for you. It's a very fast growing tree. Typically, it grows 6' (2m) or more in one year...not unless is a dwarf like the 'Chocolate' variety I see growing here.

It's beautiful, Klahanie. Love the leaves as well as the flower.

Thank you very much for liking it Feverfew. I am very pleased with the tree.

How lovely, it is a new one to me. Now I want one. Thank you for showing it.

This tree has a very graceful form Green_finger and it is fast growing. I had no idea that it will have flowers the 2nd year. I do see them around here on Vancouver Island but not very often. I am sure if you get one you will love it.

I looked it up, Klahanie, & disappointingly says it won't stand being frozen - hardy to H2. I'm H4/5, I believe.

I just looked at the Suffolk weather statistic and your climate is same as ours, Green_finger. I am sending you this link where you can buy it in Suffolk. They have some small plants which they grow from seeds and say it is hardy for UK winters. they sell very small plants but they grow very fast. My grew about 50" in a single year. You can try it and not lose too much. It is a beautiful tree.

It has to be Albizia julibrissin rosea (also called 'E.H.Wilson' ). The other Albizias might not be so Hardy.
Good luck with it if you decide to try it.

Thank you, Klahanie, for going to the trouble to find that for me. I went to the site you found & I have sent an email enquiry to them as it is listed in their half hardy list & yet it says UK winter hardy so a bit conflicting.
Do you get hard winter frosts where you are?
30 Jul, 2015
The temperature can dip down to 0 Celsius or on an occasion even below that but it does not stay there very long. Most of the winter lows are around 4-5 deg C. But it feels cooler.

The winter freeze here may be a problem for the Silk tree grown outside.
No reply as yet from my enquiry but if they are growing in greenhouses or poly-tunnels then that probably affords protection from the frosts.

You are probably right. I still do not know if mine will survive. It did last winter but it was very mild winter.
I am surprised you did not get reply from people who are making it a business to sell these trees. They must not be very serious about it.

Mine is a pot bound two meters. It can go out next spring.

That is a good size already Meanie. That is same size as mine. It would be bigger but the branches are arching down so it is quite wide. I have it only for a year. I bought it as a stick last spring, not bigger than me and no branches at all. I hope you will post a picture when you put it in the ground in the spring.
