Lovely Gnarly...I have 'sparkling burgundy' in a pot in the greenhouse...its doing very well and clumping up nicely...im always afraid to put it outside ...i have a couple of the green leaved ones too...:>)

I have quite a few of 'sparkling burgundy' as well and a couple of others;
Eucomis vandermerwei
Eucomis comosa 'Twinkle Stars"
All kept outside they are in clay pots , they get stored in the greenhouse over winter stored on there side and left to dry out , "Pink Gin " is easily three times bigger in flower.
They are thirsty plants I was quite surprised
down side the wasps love the flowers !!

They come from the summer rainfall areas of South Africa, so they need lots of water. I have the towering E. pole-evansii in flower, and it needs lots of water to do well.

I think E. pole-evansii must be in the parentage of "Pink Gin" as the flower spike is so large

Hi Follyann
Eucomis "Pink Gin" from Avon Bulbs in the UK , this is its second year flowering with me also it flowered in the 1st season and the bulbs are huge. Easy from leaf cuttings taken now.
