Rhododendron Elizabeth

Rhododendron Elizabeth

Decided to bloom now. It is the one with red leaves (when new). I have it for few years but it was favoured by deer and always badly chewed....so needless to say, it never bloomed. This year I had it in a spot that was not easily accessible so it is giving me one flower . Better late than never.

To get more flowers next year Klahanie I alway pull off the dead flowers which I was told stimulates more flowers the following year. I just twist them making sure I don't damage new growth for next year.

Thanks for the advise Thrupenny, I am doing the same. Most of the time :-)

Yes, I remember reading the same advice, it said twisting off old bloom would also help prevent bud blast.
