Wonderful! :) Would I be able to dry my flowers just in the boiler cupboard do you think?

Wonderful I can almost smell the orange oil .. Karen they will dry well if you spread them in a thin layer on kitchen paper ...

Thanks Amy...next year...or perhaps I might dry the geranium flowers from the greenhouse with some of the scented foliage. That would be nice. :)

I cheat a bit. I buy a bag of ALREADY dried lavender, then add whatever petals to it. The roses I like to pick before they fade, and just place on top because they look so nice. they dry on the lavender and I crunch them up. The Delphs I do dry separately and spread later. Obviously you can add any petals you like, but i think the smaller ones do better. I like the looks all summer of the flowers just drying. Be sure you use a large bowl. Then you can add real orange, or lavender, or any other fragrance you like..Oils Sprinkle carefully, not too much on top and then gently mix with your hands. Use sparingly and see how you like it. As time goes by, you can add through the seasons. My advice is not to mix too many smells. A bit like seasoning food. Orange and Geranium are a pleasant mixture. I also use slivers of orange peels. I do not think that the leaves work for the aroma of the Pot Pourri...You want a big bowl so you can crunch up the lavender and other flowers with the oils.
There is a famous bitter orange sold at Gumps called Arancia and it is quite divine, very subtle. Try it sometime.
