I had to get a new system since Windows Vista is being phased out, so I am trying to learn a very complicated new way of doing things. Since I still have lots of flowers open, I am trying to figure out photos.

I kept getting notices that places like YouTube and Yahoo mail were going to stop support for Vista; and my other one is 7 years old, & it is slowing down. Can't say I like Windows 10 better - it is going to take a long time to figure things out, and I will use the old one off-line to keep track of my daylilies.

Maybe that's why I've been having trouble with Yahoo then, and Internet Explorer a nightmare. I changed to Mozilla Firefox this week but maybe time for a new laptop. Mine is 6yrs old but has a lovely 17 inch screen and I'm not looking forward to having to learn a new system either.

Firefox is better than IE, but has problems if Norton is used for security. If you do upgrade, Vista things like photos and documents don't transfer to W10. Identifying photos is a nightmare, and getting access to documents is a lot harder. I figured, since I was going to have to learn a new way of using a computer, I should get the latest and not have to relearn anything for another 7 years.

Just because Microsoft bring out a new Windows you shouldn't have to change too, my partner is still using his XP home. As he says a jpeg is a jpeg on any system. I very much doubt UTube or Yahoo would stop support - can you imagine the custom they would lose? There is a lot of hype & rumour around.
I'm so glad I use a Mac.

I found out there are wps files, that I made using the Word Processor thing in Vista; and that takes IE Home Office to open, or turn them into pdf files. Microsoft has been warning that Vista is getting phased out, even though it still functions, and there have been warning notices on varies sites that they will soon not support XP. If I had switched to Mac, it would be the same relearning task.

That's true, Wylie, I did the switch some 5 yrs ago & have never looked back, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be - put my pics & docs onto memory sticks & transferred it over. No problems at all.
I resented being forced to use certain apps etc by Microsoft.

Another beauty Wylie. I still have Vista on my laptop so do I have to upgrade? Not sure I want to do that. Better the devil you know and all that.
