Thanks Sheila. Yes Janey I agree, they can be a nuisance but I find them spectacular. That's a nice story about your daughter's and another good point you mentioned, long livers and tough as old boots.

Just beautiful Dawn! This is one of my all time favourite small trees even with all the suckers it throws up. Just love it's natural shape, elegance and leaf colour especially in Autumn. The deep red cones are great as a winter attraction too aren't they? My daughter has a lovely specimen in her garden that must be at least 35 years old. It was kept in a tub at our old home and so has grown up with her....:)). X
