Grew these from seed and bought a few more plants from Morrisons. They are beginning to spread nicely in the wood.

Hi Seaburn, yes there are lovely, that's encouraging to know they will run well, just what I need.

Dawn..have a look at Fragaria moschata. I sowed a pack of seed last year and they didn't do well at all...took ages to germinate and I was about the throw the lot in the bin when I noticed a tiny seedling. I managed to get half a dozen plants in the end, which took all year to get big enough to put in the border, but I'm excited to see what they will be like next year. They would be lovely in your woodland. The fruits are dark red and they are supposed to taste lovely too. Time will tell!

I have wild strawberries the plants came from an old railway line renovation works we use to pick the strawberries when we were children in between trains chugging along ,they are delicious I have a strip of them about 20ft x 3ft growing beside a wall under the fig tree , the fruit is so sweet I often freeze some to sprinkle on deserts they would probably pay a fortune for them in a top London Hotel ....

I hope I get enough to freeze, as that sounds like a good idea Amy!!
