Thats right- the cup. I think many plants listed had died..and they replaced with an ornamental. Go over the photos..because some are not correct.

The problem here in California is that we grow pretty much every species of Eucalyptus in the world. So, they can be so difficult to id.

Stan, have you seen E. deglupta (Mindanao Gum from the Philippines) growing up there? They're all blooming here right now and looking really good with all the rains from last week.

I discovered some really nice 80 foot trees growing in front an apartment complex a couple of months ago. I need to get some pics. There's actually many growing here in San Diego, though.

I drive by a row of large E. deglupta trees in Mission Valley right next to the San Diego River, very often. The only negative thing about E. deglupta is that they don't tolerate winds very well.

I havent...but Andy you ever see on the net "Roadside" a website of tree's of Fremont,Union City? Go to the local palm society website about the Oakland Palmetum..and the link is there.
On that site Nelson Kirk- who I know- has as a city parks supervisor planted MANY exotics like the Palm Park. Anyways,he posted a photo of E.deglupta growing in Fremont. A small grove in a front yard. Last I saw,one or two tree's were left. Nelson gives the street address and I looked with google.

Home..It was hard to ID plants...the guide was off. New plants in old plants with the same number tag. Plus- in January tropicals do all sorts of things..drop leaves or turn colors that are not summer like.
I'm not sure if the tall tree's that I think are Longans are those fruiting plants. If they drop 50% of their leaves in winter- that might be one. Or Lychee.

Longans are my favorite tropical fruit after mango. I can eat a lb a day. I've seen many longan trees here. They're pretty hardy and common. Lychee trees have been growing in San Diego for 130 years, some of those trees are that age. They don't like drought conditions, though.
They don't produce fruit very well during drought years.
