That is pretty , I went out to feed the birds a while ago and noticed the birds have thrown my succulents out of their pots onto the ground they must have been searching for bugs under the plants !

Angela..when do they usually flower. Mine seem to flower all year round...not the same plant, but the three I have all flowered at different tomes this year. One just finished, one is flowering and one is just budding.

There are winter blooming Echeveria, summer blooming Echeveria an then there are Echeveria that will bloom whenever they feel like it!

Anything that blooms in winter is a winner in my book.

What little beauties. The pic looks so sweet. Aren't these little tricks the animals play just unbelievable. We had a rabbit just sitting on our porch today after the snow. He must have been snowed out of his den...

PAUL, DID YOU GET A MOUNTAIN OF SNOW?

24 Jan, 2016

LOL that's an understatement. This storm was a record breaker - almost 3 feet of snow. I was up at 5am this morning shoveling. I've erected what looks like Mt. Everest in front of my house. Sunny blue skies today, very picturesque. The snow is actually very good for the garden - it's an excellent mulch and adds tons of nitrogen to the soil.

Thanks Wells.......shame you couldnt get a photo.......
Meanie those are my Echeveria, flower when they feel like it!! a little like me and housework!
Bathgate, I cannot imagine 3ft of snow!! apparently we will get the end of it, but in rain, could do without that, rather have the snow!?

25 Jan, 2016

I couldn't imagine 3 feet of snow either, snowdrifts went up 5-6 feet. Remember the look on Dorothy's face when she landed in Oz? Yep, LOL!

Is this the worst snowfall you have experienced?

25 Jan, 2016

Not the worst, but a close second. 1996 storm I had to climb out the windows to shovel the snow from the front door. I had mountains of snow higher then the roof. Guess what happens when it melts too fast, flooding! And of course there was 1982 when I got snowed in at work for two days. Imagine living with your coworkers for 2 days waiting to be rescued! It was like Gilligan's Island. :)

OMG how shocking having to be stuck in the office for for two days...worse than the snow lol
I am hoping for a few weeks of cold or possibly snowy weather....see my blog!!

I can understand that. Snow is very beneficial to the garden overall. It replenishes nitrogen to the soil - the good stuff from high up. It also keeps plants sufficiently watered over a long period of time. It also keeps vermin, pathogens, diseases in check.

So I say bring it on then....
