He did not know what was coming, we call it the dart. He was so excited to see this strange thing coming. As soon as it stopped and the doors opened he rushed to get in, it took Anne all her time to slow Charlie up. It had me excited to see him excited if you know what I mean.

How lovely and exciting for you and Charlie. Is it a steam train next trip? Ivor the engine.

Nana did Steragram, we went to a harbour at small fishing village called Howth it is about 3 miles away from our home. Anne had her hands full with him, they were unloading the boats with their hall of fish and there were seagulls everywhere. Only that we had rains on Charlie, he would have been off to try and catch a seagull it was a job to hold him back. It was good fun. I will upload a photo of the fish been loaded on to the trucks
Lindak I would love to be able to get him on a steam train. Charlie would love it and so would I....Lol

Wow, you're in luck then - there is a stem railway society based in Dublin. Go for it!
More than travelling on steam trains I love watching the engines go by very slowly - there's something about those oily pistons and the steam etc - you feel able to appreciate the invention of the engineering a lot more than on dielsels where the works are more hidden and boring...

Thank you Steragam I did not realize there was a stem society in Dublin. I looked it up on Google and was I surprised that you were right,,,thanks for that info. They do run trips in the summer so I will be defiantly be on one with my grandchildren. You would never know I could meet Lindak on it, wouldn't that be nice just Lindak my grandchildren and myself puffing away into the sunset.

Thank you Sheila. It was short only 3 miles long enough even that he loved it he might have got fed up if it was any longer, We all enjoyed it . Steragam, mentioned that there was a steam society in Dublin which I did not know existed ,so after making some inquires they do run train trips starting in June so I well be there and get some of my memories of the 50s back, Are you free in June for a puff puff trip across Ireland,,,,,Lol

Not at all H/B we would have to get somebody else to do the stoking, can you recommend anyone. Linda, you and myself would be sitting in first class listening to the puff of the steam engine, with a nice pot of tea and scones looking at the lovely countryside,
