Although the Tulips are flowering in the South of the U.K. now, this has just been put in the garden from a GC sale as finished. Oh, and Bathgate, a bearded Iris behind, a new one last June from France mail order. Wonder if it will flower in its first season for me.

I can see that. I hope it flowers for you. I have moved a couple Irises to new locations that have never flowered for me before. They started growing super large leaves. I hope that means flowers are coming. I can't even remember which kinds they are.

I got a bargain too last week huge pot of daffodils 'Dutch Master' yes flowering but by no means over for £1.50 split them into 3 clumps and they still look good.
What do you use to stop the slugs Siris?they're having a field day with my iris I don't like using pellets, have got a garlic spray recipe which I'm going to use this weekend.

I love this tulip, I have it but the slugs eat almost all the leaves which is a shame as that is the feature.

Simbad, will show you my absolute best Tulip bargain when the flower opens.
I have used garlic spray on Hostas, but you have to keep doing it regularly. On my Iris, snails,or slugs have eaten into my Iris necks when newly planted. Really cross, eaten the new fresh growth on my newly bought Can Can, Ever After and Carnival Song, to death. I usually put a ring of sand, grit and crushed egg shell and slug pellets around newly planted Iris, but I think the beasts abseil down from surrounding plants. Must get round to making some garlic spray, thought I might try putting some crushed garlicky leaves around a sacrificial plant as a test.

The only iris that are usually bothered here are the ones at the bottom of the garden as its wetter, but this year ones at the top have damage too the wet mild winter I suppose , yep must make some of the stinky garlic stuff then ;-)
Oooo can't wait to see your bargain tulip :-)
Got a picture of an abseiling snail in my head now lol.
