Thank you ladies for your very kind comments, I think I have at long last got the hang of growing these plants, decided to put in lots of grit, which has helped enormously....they were in very heavy soil before and never did much, but since moving them they have flourished....

As long as the drainage is good, they will be fine. This is a brilliant clump! Mine are still just babies, but I've had a few flowers so far this year. Having grown them from seed, it is extra satisfying. :)
