Thank you Cariad. She was a great lady.

I enjoyed the company of my grandparents when I was a child. They taught me about gardening, and they gave me lots of love too.

Thanks for your comment Linda. Some of my best childhood memories are about my grandparents. My grandfather worked for the Railroad and took us on all kinds of exciting day trips. We rode for free.

That's really lovely to remember that Paul, do you still travel on trains now? Gerry and I have had a few short journeys on steam trains when we've been on holidays.

Linda, I have engine oil running through my veins, lol. I ride the railroad everyday to work, from Long Island, to New York and also if I'm travelling to Boston, Philadelphia or Washington, DC. It beats flying for sure and I enjoy that little bit of down time and no TSA agents rummaging through my bags. I would love to ride and see a steam engine...for now I just have my model toy train set :O

There are some great steam trains in England, Wales and Scotland, A driver let me go on to the footplate and also let me blow the train whistle whilst the train had stopped at the station , but it was in the summer and it was very hot inside with the furnace. There are a lot of dedicated volunteers who keep these wonderful old engines going at these centres. The trains seem so alive and each one has it's own identity and character. I'll try to find some photos for you.

Thank you. Her garden was her pride and joy. The 'new people' living in her house have kept many of her prized plants I see when I drive by.
