Iris

This iris was very kindly sent to me by GOY member Tommymoo, the pictures not really showing the lovely velvet like texture, love it :-)

Well captured, I thought it had a brown beard. I will have to wait till next year, although the rhizome is enormous. Going to be quite tall. Perhaps you could measure it for info, to the top of the flower head.

What an unusual colour.....never seen anything like it...

Thanks girls :-)
Yes the rhizomes were huge Tommymoo sent me, it is very tall I'll measure it later similar in size to your seedling in fact , its quite near this one.

Probably about a Metre, although my Phantom Masquerade, which has not flowered this year was 1.14m.

Thanks Drc, they were my words exactly when it opened ;-)
It's 42inches Siris, 3 flowers open together now.

That's a tall Tall. Impatient to see this one in the flesh, so to speak. Are the flowers nicely spaced up the stem? Those who see Phantom say, ' Wow' but the flowers are all clustered at the top, rather detracts from the shape of the individual blooms. I really wanted to buy 'Wonders never Cease' but the Iris supplier from whom I buy said it made a top cluster.

Oh no they're spaced out nicely from about halfway up the stem .

Can't wait, but will have to.

Gnarlyg, that name,' Here comes the night ' is a definite possibility, but that was introduced 2009, maybe this black is a little older. Maybe 7 years is too soon to have multiplied enough to have gone thought 3 successive gardens.
Simbad, I am ashamed to admit that I lost the frilly white/yellow one.
