Wow indeed!!
I lost mine Siris it got going really well then strangely didn't come back this year, I have such a problem with ants here digging under to roots of plants , so don't know if that's the reason , they are everywhere ,block paving on the drive is excavated again and Rob only cleared it last week, there's always some pest isn't there.

Wonderful! Mine is just beginning to open its buds, it's my favourite clematis and goes on all summer.....summer??
It scrambles through New Dawn and Graham Thomas roses just love it! Thinking about mine Siris, it has fewer petals....I think maybe four, just going to check.....

Well that is odd....they have mainly 6 petals, but a couple of larger flowers with only 4!

Janey, looking at my pic, I can only see a couple towards the right with 4 petals, too wet to go looking further.

Yes so there is....I wonder why that happens? Going to have to google it now and see......

I've ordered one to scramble up a Betula nigra which is a bit spindly.
Ants are so annoying here too. Wreck my tomatoes in the raised beds and a Siberian iris was failing and sure enough ants. I find if you catch them quick enough, you can save the plant, a bit like vine weevils.

If the ants are in the path, not too near plants, I pour boiling water down the ant holes.

21 Jun, 2016

I've been doing that this afternoon Siris, ants coming in the kitchen and outside holes where they have tunnelled...:((

21 Jun, 2016

I wonder wether the torrential rain we had will wash the blighters out of their tunnels.

We can only hope Siris, blinkin ants, the flying ones will be around next week no doubt. Just going back to the clematis, got mine planted on Thursday to scramble up my spindly tree, I hope one day it looks as good as yours, I can only hope.

This is the best/most abundant Clematis I have. I find the viticella group are so undemanding. Having said that I have grown one or two large flowering ones from seed, which flower really well.

I like this one too, mine arrived :-) planted now against the betula nigra :-)
